Batang Pinoy 2025: GenSan Shines as Proud Host of the Nation’s Young Athletes

General Santos City proudly welcomed the nation’s young athletes as the host of Batang Pinoy 2025, marking a momentous return after 26 years. From October 25 to 31, GenSan became the hub of excitement, sportsmanship, and youthful energy as thousands of aspiring athletes gathered to showcase their skills and dreams on a national stage.

It was truly an honor for our city to host such a prestigious grassroots sporting event. Batang Pinoy is not just a competition; it is a celebration of talent, determination, and the promise of future champions. This year, over 20,000 young athletes, coaches, and delegates from across the Philippines arrived in GenSan, ready to compete in 27 sports disciplines, ranging from swimming and athletics to gymnastics and martial arts.

The opening ceremony at the Antonio C. Acharon Sports Complex was a visual delight. Despite a steady rain at the start of the parade, the drum and bugle corps, Boy Scouts, and delegates marched bravely, showing determination and spirit.

GenSan delegates were greeted with a spectacular air confetti display, which wowed everyone and set a festive tone for the week.

GenSan made every effort to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. More than 1,500 police officers, along with support from the Philippine Coast Guard and Bureau of Fire Protection, were deployed to maintain security. Safety protocols were strictly observed, and the venues were carefully prepared and inspected, ensuring the games proceeded smoothly and safely for all participants.

While the athletes displayed determination and skill, Batang Pinoy also brought families and communities together. Parents, siblings, and supporters filled the stands, cheering on their young champions, creating a vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie and encouragement. Tourists visiting GenSan during the games also had the opportunity to experience the hospitality, rich culture, and local attractions that make our city unique. The event was a perfect showcase of GenSan’s capacity to host national competitions while offering visitors a warm and memorable stay.

As the week concluded, the official overall medal standings were announced. Pasig City emerged as the back-to-back overall champion, followed by Baguio City in second place, Davao City in third, Quezon City in fourth, and Manila City in fifth.

Hosting Batang Pinoy 2025 was not just a sporting event for GenSan—it was a celebration of youth, resilience, and national pride.
